In the early 2000’s, the Ventura County Film Commission was born out of the area’s long partnership with film production, regional film location resources, local talent pools and the unique physical relationship to Hollywood.
Reinvigorated in 2013 under Economic Development Collaborative, EDC FILM facilitates communication and convenings among industry professionals to increase local film shoots, industry spending, local job retention and creation and positive exposure of Ventura County in media.
EDC FILM enhances the filming experiences for all parties by providing NO-COST advising and guidance for Ventura County film productions on:
- Film locations
- Film permitting
- Pre/post-production resources
- Talent and crew lodging
- Start-up and business consulting
- Small businesses with under 500 employees looking to grow their existing business
- Nonprofits that supports local business owners
HOW DOES FILMING GROW THE REGIONAL ECONOMY?
- Filming creates and sustains at least two additional jobs for every job created in local film activity
- Production activity benefits more than 3,500 Ventura County trade workers and professionals part of industry guilds and unions who live locally
