The City of Santa Barbara is hosting a forum on May 5, aimed at helping business owners, architects, contractors, and designers understand disabled access and code changes. The event is free and will cover various topics, including accessibility laws and liabilities for businesses that fail to comply, as well as changes to the California Building Code in 2023. Participants will also learn about common violations alleged in accessibility lawsuits, how to get their business evaluated, and how to ensure outdoor dining is accessible to disabled people. The forum will take place in the David Gebhard Public Meeting Room on Garden Street and will run two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. For questions email AccessibilityTraining2023@SantaBarbaraCA.gov or Call Marck Aguilar 805.564.5545.
