Definition

Goods and services produced in Ventura County that are sold to external buyers, domestic or international.  Exports are the primary method by which an economy may build its wealth through bringing new dollars into the region.

Significance

The metric reflects the amount of wealth brought into the county on an annual basis, as opposed to the movement of wealth within the county through labor wages, in-region supply chain purchases, and local purchases of household items. The metric also represents the county’s connection to and competitiveness in the global economy.
