Inclusive Innovation Hub (iHub2)
Since 2019, FATHOMWERX, the public-private consortium convened by the Economic Development Collaborative (EDC) and partnered with the Navy Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD), Port of Hueneme and Matter Labs, has been enhancing technological innovation and economic competitiveness throughout the region.
On April 4, 2022, FATHOMWERX was designated as Ventura County’s and Santa Barbara County’s Inclusive Innovation Hub (iHub2) by the California Office of the Small Business Advocate. As the convenor of FATHOMWERX, the EDC will receive a one-time $250,000 investment from the State of California to advance the creation of an inclusive service and resource ecosystem.
The Inclusive Innovation Hub (iHub2) program will bolster the advancement of an inclusive service and resource ecosystem that both supports and facilitates ongoing, evolutionary change for high-technology, high impact entrepreneurs and small business companies. iHub2 provides small businesses support and encouragement through specialized high-tech assistance services, industry specific workshops, mentoring, networking events, technology resources at the FATHOMWERX Lab, funding options through the EDC and its loan network, equity funding networking and high-tech node building events.
This is the first program of its kind in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties that will increase access to opportunities for high-tech start-ups, with a specific focus on serving underrepresented business owners. By making an intensive effort to connect with underserved, disadvantaged communities and high-tech, high impact women and minority-owned technology businesses, this entrepreneurial ecosystem has immense potential to create new talent within the high-tech workforce with higher paying jobs throughout the region.
More information on how to get involved in the iHub2 program will be available soon. Interested in receiving services or partnering with our program? Please complete the information below.
